Is it possible to grow new teeth at the age of 50? This question would be easily answered as NO, for it has been a fact that we could not grow new teeth when we reach the age of 20 years. Wisdom tooth can still erupt in your early twenties but after that, once you lose your permanent teeth, they will never grow back. That is why dental hygiene is very important in keeping your teeth healthy. But wait, here's some good news that will give humans hope for growing new teeth in the future even if you are in your past thirties.
Reasearchers from China have discovered a way of growing new teeth using stem cells(master cells which can grow into any other type of tissue), taken from urine. This comes from a result of ongoing advances in tissue engineering that are pushing scientists into the boundaries of what this new science of tissue regenerating can achieve to make future humans live for a longer span of time.
The group at the Guangzhou intitutes of Biomedicine and Health used urine as the starting point. Cells which are normally just passed from the body such as urine are harvested in the laboratory. These collected cells are then converted into becoming stem cells. A mix of these cells together with other material from a mouse were implanted into the animals.
The researchers said that after three weeks the bundle of cells started to resemble a tooth. The tooth-like structure contained a dental pulp, dentin, enamel space and enamel organ. However, the so called "teeth" were not as hard as the natural teeth. But the researchers say that this could be just the start of the dream of a total regeration of human teeth.

IS IT NECESSARY TO CLEAN YOUR TONGUE EVERYDAY
Is it necessary to clean your tongue everyday?
The tongue is a big help not only for our speech but also when we are eating. It helps from the time the food enters our mouth, when the teeth chews the food, and also at the time we swallow the food. When the food enters our mouth it signals the brain and tells it what the taste of the food is. It then helps the teeth by gathering the food and positions it in the place where our teeth can easily chew it. Then it pushes the food so we can swallow it. So residues from the food that we eat sticks to the tongue and becomes bacteria that contaminates our teeth and causes bad odor in our breath. Many people are not aware of this so they just brush their teeth but never clean their tongue. It is not difficult to clean our tongue. We can use the toothbrush that we use in brushing our teeth or there are some toothbrushes with some tongue cleaners at the back of it. When we brush our teeth we should also scrape or brush our tongue so all the food that accumulates on its surface are removed. This will be a big help in maintaining heathy teeth and gums. You will be surprised how the freshness of your teeth improves. Try it. Do it regularly. Make it a habit.

New Study On Alzheimer's Disease Linked To Poor Dental Health
Reasearchers from the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) in the UK has discovered that people with poor oral hygiene or gum disease are most likely to be in the high risk of developing Alzheimer's compared with people that have healthy teeth. The presence of a bacterium called Porphyromonas gingivalis were found in the brains of people with dementia when they were still alive. It is a bug usually associated with chronic periodontal (gum) disease.
In this study published in the Journals of Alzheimer's Disease , 10 brain samples were donated for analysis by a scheme called the Brains for Dementia Research alongside 10 brain samples from people who haven't got the disease. In the examination of the samples, it was found out that the presence of Porphyromonas Gingivalis were in the brains of the people with Alzheimer's disease.
This bacteria is usually found in the oral cavities and enters the blood stream through different daily activities such as chewing, eating, and brushing teeth. However it is more possible that it can enter the blood stream after an invasive dental treatment.
The researchers note that each time the bacteria enter the brain, it could trigger immune system responses, causing the release of excess chemicals that can kill neurons. The researchers say that this activity could lead to symptoms such as confusion and deteriorating memory, typical symptoms of Alzheimer's disease.
The study strengthens the previous findings that Alzheimer's disease is linked to poor dental health. A research from the New York Universtity in 2010 revealed long-term evidence linking gum inflammation and Alzheimer's disease finding that gum disease could lead to cognitive dysfunction.
The researchers say future research could involve determining whether Porphyromonas Gingivalis could be used as a marker for a blood test that predicts the development of Alzheimer's disease in patient who are a higher risk.
